Variations and Alternatives to the Legacy Challenge

I know many of you are not following the rules of the legacy challenge exactly, but I am interested to hear what changes you have made to the current featured challenge or if you are following a different set of rules completely.

Post a comment linking to the rules you are following or just post the alterations you have made.

  1. Instead of rolling traits for the next generation I am following my own challenge I created called the Trait Challenge: http://tragedyfamily.sims3legacy.com/the-trait-challenge/

I have a secondary game I play with a “lothario” type character, whose legacy is to impregnate as many females as possible. Once he is too old to continue, I’ll pick up with one of his male children. My ultimate goal is to end up with a town where everyone in the current generation is related and new blood has to be moved in. It’s a very repetitive process, so I can’t play it in marathon sessions but it gives me a nice break from diapers and skill training.

    Legacy Challenge Roll 3-Times:

Play exactly like a legacy should be, but when your kids are successful in life you don’t roll just once. You roll 3 times and even if you don’t like the 3rd roll you have to stick with it.
For me this is a more fair option (that I think that should be implemented on rules) that I’ll use in all my legacies.

I agree with demonofjustice – if you’re being allowed to choose a trait by the game, it means you did something right, and there should be a little more leway with personalities. I do like some amount of random though, to help keep me from falling into “old habits” :)

In my Crumplebottom Chronicles I omit scoring money since she started with money already. I like the idea of passing down each trait the founder has to the heir/ess. It’s limited, but a challenge to raise children correctly and to get different Life Time Wishes.

Uhmm, Well I Give Every Generation a motherload to help them in there crisis. So if say generation 7 needs alot of money i give it to them once! and if generation 8 has a problem i give them a motherload. Its pretty simple. But i only do it once every generation. I also make sure they need it and not for some awesome Television or new laptop. (Mostly Money Issues)
